Visit Jainta, khasia hill and Jaflong in Sylhet

Most soothing scenic attraction of Sylhet after its lush green tea gardens is possibly hilly Jainta. A visit in Sylhet is incomplete without seeing beautiful Jaintapur. Jaintapur is famous for its megalithic archaeological ruins. It is located 40 km northwest of Sylhet town on the Sylhet - Jafflong road. At around 18th century, Jaintapur was the capital of an ancient kingdom called Jainta, which included the Khasia and Jaintia Hills, and the plains of Jainta. Jainta Rajbari was the palace of Kings of Jainta, it’s adjacent to Jainta Bazar.

Importance
Though the condition of the king’s palace is already much damaged, still every year huge number of tourists come to see it due to historical importance of Jainta Kingdom. The palace of the king of Jainta is an interesting sight for those interested in ancient history.

What can you do
A lots people go to Jaintapur forests and other areas of Jaflong, Sripur and Tamabil for picnic, to have fun and spend time with nature. So if you are planning to visit Jaflong make sure you have visited all four places on the same day. Sylhet is not far from Jainta, you can easily come back in the evening to spend your night in Sylhet.

When to visit
Generally winter is the best season to visit Jaflong but if you want to enjoy the real beauty of wild waterfall then you should visit Jaflong in Monsoon.
